Project Summary
Kiitos@21stCenturyPreschools is an early second language learning (ESLL) project, which aims to promote a High-quality Early Childhood Program focused on Preschool level, in Portugal and in the European countries of this consortium, connecting different pedagogical approaches to support children’s global development, preparing and equipping them for the 21st century challenges.
The project focuses on the needs of two target groups:

Children in preschool education;
-
Preschool teachers, specialized teachers (English, Music and Physical Education) and the School leadership team.
Aims of the Project
I n the context of 21st century preschool education:

to develop an integrated pedagogical approach that combines the most effective, creative and innovative teaching strategies;

​to enhance the quality of 21st century teaching skills in preschool education;

to engage preschool teachers, and subject teachers in adequate training events to develop 21st century skills and multiple languages proficiency;

to promote collaborative work and collaborative teaching strategies to develop work units and resources for a Kiitos@21st century preschools approach.

Training
Events
C1 - Short-term training for English teachers and pre-school teachers on 21st century skills in ELT and CLIL in pre-school education;
C2 - Short-term training for Music teachers and pre-school teachers on theoretical and pedagogical training on Edwin Gordon’s Music Learning Theory and development of musical orientation activities in childhood, through an eclectic approach;
C3 - Short-term training for pre-school teachers and English teachers: Implementation of curriculum guidelines for pre-school education through an integrated approach, to promote entrepreneurial skills (collaborative work, initiative, problem solving, communication, critical thinking, creativity) and teaching practices for developing socio-emotional skills in the context of a bilingual education.
